Title: Across the Universe
Series: Across the Universe Book 1
Author: Beth Revis
Publisher: EDIZIONI PIEMME
Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone – one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship – tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn’t do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed’s hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there’s only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.
Rating: I will be giving this book a 3 out of 5 stars. This was a good book. I would recommend it to others to read. However, this book was just not something that I would re-read. I thought about reading the other books in the series but I don’t think this series is for me. I love dystopians and this is a dystopian but it just didn’t do it for me. The characters seemed flat and hard to relate to, the plot did have some twists but I saw them coming. I do not want to give too much away about this book, but after reading the synopsis I thought this book was going to be a lot better then what it turned out to be. I did however, really liked the idea that the author was going for with this dystopian as as the premises behind the plot. For example, the frozen people on a spaceship who are going to colonize a new planet. I like the fact that there are no supernatural beings, just the humans, so for someone who is just getting into scifi this would be a good book for them.
